Want to climb two of Virunga’s volcanoes? This 5 Days Mount Nyiragongo and Karisimbi Hike package features a hike to the summit of Nyiragongo in Goma – Congo and another to Mount Karisimbi.
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi
This day you transfer to Gisenyi in western Rwanda where you will engage on a couple of activities on Lake Kivu. Some of the activities include water-sports, swimming, orphanage visit and more. You will relax in the evening so as to get enough rest and freshen up for your next day physical challenge.

Day 2: Ascend Nyiragongo
Early in the morning, you will cross the border and head to Goma in Congo. From here you will proceed to Mount Nyiragongo and engage in a 6 hours ascent to the summit. When you reach atop, you will get close to the lava lake and take lifetime photographs.
Overnight at the Summit
Day 3: Descend Nyiragongo and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
This day you take another 6 hours journey to descend off the mountain. When you reach down, you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze having lunch enroute. Overnight at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge for luxury, Le bambou Gorilla Lodge for moderate and Kinigi Guest House for budget.
Day 4: Climb Mount Karisimbi
On the fourth day of your safari, you climb another of the Virunga Volcanoes – Mount Karisimbi. Please note that this hike will be much more difficult compared to the one of Nyiragongo. You will take a total of six hours to climb this mountain via the Bisoke trail till the altitude of 3700m above sea level. You will camp mid way for an overnight.
Day 5: Climax your hike and descend after
Rise to an early morning breakfast and climax your hike to the summit. At the summit, the views are breathetaking and you will get clear sights of Mount Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira. You will then descend off the mountain, have late lunch in Kinigi and get transferred to Kigali after for drop off at your preferred accommodation facility or departure.
